ok..

10 things that happened to me though the only nice one is the last one. haha.. right first day of school at oatley snr high. in a nutshell, the first few hours were awful. never felt so sad until that point in time, walking around like some loner without talking to anyone. but hey!!.. theres always a turning point! just at that most sianest point in my life..pretika appeared!haha..she then introduced me to her group of friends and now i have a hangout!yeah! but the atmosphere, ppl, language, behaviour is just so different from singapore. i would say the teachers here are more relaxed and open though they do get pissed when the students get really rowdy. and when i say real rowdy, i mean it. its like they can just argue right smack in the middle of the class or cheer like some madmen, but it was pretty funny in some occasions. had english, physics, chinese and math classes today. english class was pretty horrible because i didnt know any people at that point in time and i wasnt introduced properly because the teacher was a relief teacher, so i shall skip that one(the whole time we were just watching this movie, the truman show which i later learnt it was for my assesment, perfect).physics class was awesome, the teacher was so nice and funny(she called me stephanie which took me some time to realise she was talking to me.. this needs time and its still a little weird.haha). people there were nice and i got to know a funny guy who doest like to wear shoes in class and who always asked the most weirdest questions like who invented the pie(math form not the food)and why is it that flies can remain stationary in a car and whether an elephant would travel around the earth like a satellite if we sent it up(i mean.. which person in the right mind would want to send an elephhant to space right?)yeah.. so it was mostly the guys who talked a lot in class and the girls(5 including me) did the laughing. i guess this is what it means by goofy guys in storybooks right?oh!did i mention that guys like to introduce themselves by standing up and shaking people's hands?i was quite surprised at first.. but hey.. its manners:)yeah.. then it was lunch! so i went to the hangout and ate er.. pasta thing?? oh to describe about the hangout thing, its something like that in nj where each group have their own table or area, but over in aussie, its different. the sort of cool people( those girls with makeup and boyfriends) stay in the canteen and they sort of look at you or stare at you when you walk past them.(as usual like an idiot i was pacing up and down like no body's business in the morning .. they must have thought i was mad!gosh) then there's the round about area up the steps and around the corridoors and down at the locker area and ..well actually everywhere. there was even a smokers area outside where there were the smoker groups!scary!.. did i mention the pond? haha. its far larger than the pool in nj and there are even birds there!i bet i can canoe in it anytime provided there are boats lying around.haha. yeah. pretty lazy to continue.. but yup thats the life of a typical aussie student in her first day in school i guess.. still trying to find my way around but hey.. i am learning:) haha..

[[*Daddy]]

Her hair was up in a pony tail,
her favorite dress tied with a bow.
Today was "Daddy's Day" at school,
and she couldn't wait to go.

But her mommy tried to tell her,
that she probably should stay home.
Why the kids might not understand,
if she went to school alone.

But she was not afraid;
she knew just what to say.
What to tell her classmates
of why he wasn't there today.

But still her mother worried,
for her to face this day alone.
And that was why once again,
she tried to keep her daughter home.

But the little girl went to school
eager to tell them all.
Of a dad who's never there
a dad who never calls.

There were daddies along the wall in back,
for everyone to meet.
Children squirming impatiently,
anxious in their seats.

One by one the teacher called
a student from the class.
To introduce their daddy,
as seconds slowly passed.

At last the teacher called her name,
every child turned to stare.
each of them was searching,
for a man who wasn't there.

"Where's her daddy at?!"
she heard a boy call out.
"She probably doesn't have one,"
another student dared to shout.

And from somewhere near the back,
She heard another father say,
"Looks like another deadbeat dad,
too busy to waste his day."

The words did not offend her,
as she smiled up at her Mom,
and looked back at her teacher,
who told her to go on.

And with hands behind her back,
Slowly she began to speak
And out from the mouth of a child,
came words incredibly unique.

"My Daddy couldn't be here,
because he lives so far away.
But I know he wishes he could be,
Since this is such a special day.

And though you cannot meet him,
I wanted you to know.
All about my daddy
and how much he loves me so.

He loved to tell me stories
he taught me to ride my bike.
He surprised me with pink roses,
and taught me to fly a kite.

We used to share fudge sundaes,
and ice cream in a cone.
And though you cannot see him.
I'm not standing here alone."

"Cause my daddy's always with me,
even though we are apart
I know because he told me,
he'll forever be in my heart"

With that, her little hand reached up,
and lay across her chest.
Feeling her own heartbeat,
beneath her favorite dress.

And from somewhere in the crowd of dads,
her mother stood in tears.
Proudly watching her daughter,
who was wise beyond her years.

And when she dropped her hand back down,
staring straight into the crowd.
She finished with a voice so soft,
but its message clear and loud.

"I love my daddy very much,
he's my shining star.
And if he could, he'd be here,
but heaven's just too far "

"You see he was a fireman
and died just this past year
When airplanes hit the towers
and taught Americans to fear.

But sometimes when I close my eyes,
it's like he never went away."
And then she closed her eyes,
and saw him there that day.

And to her mother's amazement,
she witnessed with surprise.
A room full of daddies and children,
all starting to close their eyes.

Who knows what they saw before them,
Who knows what they felt inside
Perhaps for merely a second,
they saw him at her side.

"I know you're with me Daddy,"
to the silence she called out.
And what happened next made believers,
of those once filled with doubt.

Not one in that room could explain it,
for each of their eyes had been closed..
But there on the desk beside her,
was a fragrant long-stemmed pink rose.
